Pay-television broadcasters Al Jazeera and Canal Plus have both acquired rights in France for German Bundesliga and Italian Serie A football in deals with the MP & Silva agency covering the 2012-13 to 2014-15 seasons.
L’Equipe reports that the deals are worth a combined €23 million ($30.82 million) per season, a significant increase on the current deals. Canal Plus currently pays €10 million per year for the French rights to Serie A, while rival pay-television operator Orange Sport pays €2.5 million per year for the Bundesliga.
