American Sports Network secures college ice hockey rights

American Sports Network, the college sports platform operated by US television broadcasting company Sinclair Networks Group, has secured rights deals with a number of collegiate ice hockey organisations in the country.

Although the terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was confirmed that ASN will broadcast live up to 30 games per year from the various leagues and conferences.

ASN will broadcast live coverage of ice hockey games from Hockey East, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hockey and the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Coverage will be broadcast on Sinclair broadcast stations as well as other ASN broadcast and cable affiliates in the US.

In addition, ASN has renewed its agreement with cable-television broadcaster the Big Ten Network to broadcast coverage of Big Ten Conference ice hockey events.

The schedule of games in 2015-16 will open with a doubleheader on Friday, October 23 when Notre Dame plays host to Minnesota-Duluth, followed by Air Force at Omaha in the grand opening game in Baxter Arena, the new on-campus home of Omaha Mavericks hockey.
