German public-service broadcaster ARD has acquired the rights to three of Germany’s group stage games at the forthcoming EuroBasket national team basketball competition in Slovenia, according to the Digital Fernsehen website.
Germany’s group games had been left without television coverage, but ARD has now confirmed it will broadcast the games against Belgium on September 5, Great Britain on September 8 and Israel on September 9.
Germany’s tournament opener against France on September 4, and its game against Ukraine two days later, are yet to be assigned a broadcast partner.
The ARD agreement returns basketball to free-to-air television in Germany for the first time in 10 years. EuroBasket 2013 takes place from September 4-22.
