Malaysian pay-television operator Astro will broadcast live coverage of every match from the 2016 season of the country’s Sepaktakraw League after posting a significant increase in the audience for its coverage of last season.
Astro broadcast half of the matches live during the 2015 campaign, but will double the coverage to a total of 90 hours for the 2016 season after viewing figures increased by a quarter last year, according to Nishant Sehgal, general manager of Asia Sports Ventures, which operates the league.
The coverage will be shown via the Astro Arena service and the Astro on the Go mobile service every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from September 23 until December 11.
Astro will also provide highlights and behind-the-scenes footage, according to Lee Choong Khay, vice-president of sports business at the media company.
