The Sportsman Media Group agency has signed a long-term partnership with the Badminton Europe Confederation through which it will market the exclusive worldwide media rights to its European Championships events.
In 2016, the contract will cover the European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships, which take place from February 16-21 in Russia, along with France’s staging of the European Individual Championships from April 26 to May 1. Both events will determine European qualifying spots for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 2017, the deal will cover the European Mixed Team Championships, which are taking place in Poland, as well as the European Individual Championships in Denmark.
Thomas Krohne, chief executive of the Sportsman Media Group, said: “Our aim, together with BEC, is to generate a significant increase in exposure for the European Championships, both in Europe and in Asia. These two continents are the most important core markets for this sport.”
Gregory Verpoorten, president of BEC, added: “Having the Sportsman Media Group represent our worldwide media rights for our future major events is a significant step for BEC, and for badminton in Europe. With this agreement with Sportsman, we will get important expertise at our side, which guarantees BEC and badminton important exposure throughout the world.”
