EuroLeague Basketball has appointed Andrea Bassani as the media manager of its EuroCup club competition.
Bassani was one of the founding members that helped to create the Euroleague in 2000 and has served as chief television and new media officer of the organisation for its entire 17-year history.
The appointment comes after Euroleague Ventures, the 10-season joint venture between the Euroleague and the IMG agency, confirmed in June that it would centralise the EuroCup’s media rights from the 2017-18 season.
Euroleague Basketball and IMG agreed a revamped commercial structure and defined a new revenue distribution model, similar to that of the top-tier Euroleague’s centralised structure.
The enhanced media structure includes a significant investment in production. Euroleague said that this will provide fans with better quality broadcasts and a wider range of content on digital platforms.
