BBC Alba, the Gaelic-language channel operated by UK public-service broadcaster the BBC, has acquired live rights to the Scottish Premier League, Scotland’s top domestic football league, for two seasons, 2012-13 and 2013-14.
BBC Alba will show three exclusively live matches per season with Gaelic-language commentary, in addition to the delayed match coverage it has shown since 2008. The Gaelic-language broadcaster will show 35 matches on delay per season, usually at 5.30pm on Saturdays.
The first live fixture will be the Highland derby between Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle on January 2.
