UK public-service broadcaster the BBC has acquired highlights rights to the International Cricket Council’s upcoming Champions Trophy event.
The one-day international tournament runs from June 1-18 in England and Wales, and highlights will be shown each night on the BBC Two channel.
In-play highlights clips will also be accessible via the BBC Sport website in the UK. Pay-television broadcaster Sky holds the live rights to the tournament in the UK.
The deal comes with the BBC reportedly interested in securing broadcast rights being marketed by the England and Wales Cricket Board, which this month launched its formal media-rights sale process for international and domestic cricket for the five-year period spanning 2020 to 2024.
