Belgian broadcaster VRT seals Olympic rights

The Sportfive agency awarded Belgium’s Flemish-language media rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games to public-service broadcaster VRT.

The broadcaster has been granted free-to-air television rights and internet rights for Sochi’s 2014 winter Games, and the free-to-air television, internet, mobile and radio rights for Rio de Janeiro’s 2016 summer Games.

Luc Van Langenhove, manager of VRT Sport, said: “We consider the Olympics to be part of VRT’s DNA, given that VRT has broadcast the Olympic Games for more than half a century, without interruption.”

Sportfive holds the media rights to the 2014 and 2016 Games in 40 European markets.
