The International Biathlon Union, the sport’s global governing body, has entered into exclusive talks with the European Broadcasting Union consortium of public-service broadcasters over a rights deal.
The negotiations are with a view to agreeing an exclusive rights agreement over four seasons, from 2014-15 to 2017-18.
Under the proposed deal, the EBU would exploit the multi-platform media rights to all of the governing body’s World Cup and World Championship events, plus a number of other events.
The deal still has to be finalised, but the two parties have worked together since 1993.
