Bolivian cable channel acquires 2011 Copa America

“We are the only company in La Paz with the authorisation to show all the Copa America games live,” Jorge Paco Marín, Cotel’s president of the board of directors, said. Unitel will show all of Bolivia’s games on free-to-air television, simulcasting with Cotel in La Paz.

Unitel have already sublicensed the rights to other Bolivian cable companies who they have dealings with through their rights agreements for the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano, the Bolivian first division. Unitel acquired the rights from the Brazil-based Traffic Sports agency, the global rights-holder.

Argentina will host the 2011 Copa America in July. The teams competing are: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
