BoxNation expands Golden Boy Promotions rights

UK boxing channel BoxNation agreed a deal with boxing promoter Golden Boy Promotions for the rights to two live fight nights per month.

The agreement covers one of Golden Boy’s major events, which are also shown by the US pay-television services HBO or Showtime, plus one night of boxing from the Solo Boxeo series each month.

BoxNation last month announced it had acquired from Golden Boy the rights for Abner Mares v Erik Morel on April 21, Bernard Hopkins v Chad Dawson on April 28, and Floyd Mayweather v Miguel Cotto on May 5.

BoxNation’s coverage of the April 21 event will include the WBA Super World Bantamweight title fight between Anselmo Moreno and David De La Mora.

Simon Green, BoxNation chief executive, said: “This is a tremendous addition to BoxNation’s line up of world class boxing. Golden Boy hosts the best of the sport from the United States and along with the top action from Europe and the UK now means that we can arguably claim to be the best boxing channel ever.”

Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer, said: “We are pleased to expand our relationship with BoxNation and bring British fight fans at least two Golden Boy events every month.”
