Cricket Hong Kong has unveiled a series of rights deals with pay-television broadcasters for the 2018 Hong Kong T20 Blitz cricket tournament.
Rights have been acquired by BT Sport in the UK; Fox Sports in Australia; OSN in the Middle East; Neo Sports in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as well as DSports in India; ESPN Caribbean and StarTimes in Africa.
Several other broadcasters are still in negotiations over acquiring rights, according to a joint statement released by Cricket Hong Kong, which is organising the tournament, and its production and distribution partner, Sunset+Vine.
The third edition of the five-team tournament will take place from February 6-11.
“Now that we are working with the ICC’s live events production partner Sunset+Vine, we are taking the tournament’s production values to the next level as we reach a truly global audience for the first time,” said Cricket Hong Kong’s director, Jonathan Cummings.
Cricket stars such as Kumar Sangakkara (pictured), Darren Sammy, Sohail Tanvir, Jofra Archer and Wahab Riaz have signed up to play in the tournament.
