BSkyB extends and expands US Open rights deal

UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB has extended its exclusive rights deal for the US Open golf tournament as part of a new agreement that also includes coverage of other women’s, senior and amateur golf events in the US.

The deal will run for five years, from 2015 to 2019.

Sky struck the deal with the United States Golf Association, which operates the tournaments.

More than 35 US golf events will be broadcast on the Sky Sports channels over the course of the deal.

Sky will show coverage of the US Open plus the men’s US Senior Open and US Amateur Championship as well as the 2017 Walker Cup match between a UK and Ireland team and a US team.

In women’s golf, Sky will broadcast coverage of the US Women’s Open, US Women’s Amateur Championships and the 2018 Curtis Cup match between a UK and Ireland team and a US team.
