UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport has introduced a number of new virtual reality features to its official mobile application.
Users of the app will be able to access 360-degree video highlights and instant replays across a range of major sporting events.
The 360-degree highlights option will be available with or without a VR headset, with replays to be offered alongside standard replays in the timeline on the app.
Users can select different camera angles and viewpoints to watch replays of key incidents during a match. BT Sport said this is the first time that fans will have the option to view replays in 360-degree mode.
The features were made available for the first time during last night’s (Tuesday) Uefa Champions League football match between German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain.
Other events that will include the features include England’s Premier League and FA Cup club football competitions, as well as world title boxing bouts.
