Sports media and technology company Deltatre has struck a deal with BT Sport to support the UK pay-television broadcaster’s coverage of the Uefa Champions League and Europa League European club football tournaments.
Deltatre will supply its Diva video multiplatform service to enable BT Sport customers using the broadcaster’s official mobile application to access additional content not normally available through traditional television coverage.
Subscribers will gain access to real-time statistics, player heat maps, goal replays from various camera angles and in-match alerts that display videos of goals from other matches being played at the same time.
Additional content will be accessible either live or on-demand through the use of interactive overlays and timeline navigation.
Gilles Mas, international football director at Deltatre, said: “We are providing a customised solution specifically for BT Sport sourcing content from Uefa Next Generation Production services launched for this new cycle, which is connecting audiences and immersing them in a whole new, deeper level of football experience.”
In November 2013, BT agreed to pay about £299m (€415m/$446m) per season for the Champions League and Europa League rights for three seasons, from 2015-16 to 2017-18, dislodging pay-television rival Sky and commercial broadcaster ITV as rights-holders in the UK.
