Pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has launched four dedicated sports channels in the African market.
Canal Plus said Ý Sport 1, Ý Sport 2, Ý Sport 3 and Ý Sport 4 would benefit from its range of new rights acquisitions across a variety of sports, with a focus on French and international events.
Content will include Uefa Champions League and Europa League football, France’s staging of the Euro 2016 national team tournament, France’s Ligue 1 and the English Premier League.
Canal Plus said the channels will also offer North American basketball league the NBA and national team competition the EuroBasket, Diamond League athletics, the Formula One motor racing championship and French rugby union’s Top 14 league.
Tennis content will include the French Open and Wimbledon grand slams, along with action from men’s ATP Masters 1000 and 500 events. European Tour golf and the US Masters will also be broadcast.
The new channels launched yesterday (Tuesday).
