The Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees has finalised rights deals in Belize for the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Channel 5 and Channel 7 will be the sole rights-holders for the forthcoming Games in Belize under the agreement.
Canoc Broadcasting Inc., a company formed by sports bodies in the Caribbean for handling media rights for major properties, acquired media rights for the 2016 summer Olympic Games in November 2013.
The deal covered Belize, as well as Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and the Turks and Caicos.
Canoc has been working with international sports broadcaster ESPN to ensure territories across the Caribbean receive coverage that is focused on the exploits of the region’s athletes at the Games.
