The CBS Sports division of US network CBS has appointed David Berson as its new president.
Berson first joined the company in 2011 as executive vice-president of CBS Sports and president of the CBS Sports Network cable channel.
Reporting to chairman Sean McManus, Berson will now be involved in all aspects of CBS Sports’ day-to-day management, as well as continuing to lead the CBS Sports Network.
During his time at CBS Sports, Berson has worked with McManus to capture programming and talent deals, as well as spearheading the CBS Sports Network rebrand to closely align it with CBS Sports and its assets. Under his leadership, CBS Sports Network’s distribution has grown by over 25 per cent.
Prior to his time at CBS Sports, he spent 16 years with US sports broadcaster ESPN, where he held a number of positions across the company. His last role before departure entailed co-running ESPN’s programming department.
