Cricket Australia recorded a A$5.1m ($3.2m/€3.3m) deficit in the 12-month period to the end of June after international media rights revenues fell despite the country hosting back-to-back men’s and women’s Ashes series.
The board said a “challenging UK media rights market” contributed to a A$51.3m reduction in its media, broadcasting and marketing revenues compared with the previous reporting period. In the year ended June 2021, the sector generated A$293.9m for Cricket Australia, with the board recording an overall deficit of A$151,000.
