Cypriot First Division football club APOEL has filed a court application to dissolve pay-television broadcaster Lumiere Television over a dispute concerning the team’s broadcast rights, according to the Cyprus Mail.
The newspaper, citing a club source, said the reigning Cypriot champion has filed the application with the broadcaster owing around €300,000 ($414,000) in rights fees.
LTV bought the rights to APOEL’s home games for €1.1m in 2012. The Nicosia club had since agreed to LTV’s request to reschedule payments, but the Cyprus Mail said the broadcaster has since been unable to honour the amended agreement.
Cypriot website 24Sports added that APOEL’s First Division rival Ermis Aradippou has also filed a lawsuit against LTV over a debt worth €231,000.
