Danish ice hockey boosted by TV2 deal

Danish public-service broadcaster TV2 has agreed a three-year deal with the Danish Ice Hockey Union (DIU) for the rights to the Metal Ligaen, the top division of Danish ice hockey, and the Metal Cup competition.

The agreement takes effect from the 2014 season. Under the terms of the deal, TV2 will broadcast a minimum of 40 matches per season.

The new contract will provide the greatest level of television exposure for the Metal Ligaen since the competition was founded in 1954.
