Date set for ruling in Canal Plus Ligue 1 rights appeal

Canal Plus is set to discover next month whether its appeal is successful against a court ruling concerning its sublicensing contract with fellow French pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports for coverage of Ligue 1.

Following a two-hour hearing yesterday (Wednesday) in the case concerning coverage of the top division of French football, the Versailles Court of Appeal set March 31 as the date for a decision that could have seismic implications for the domestic game.
