DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has acquired rights for Serie B, the second division of Italian football.
The deal will run for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21. According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, the agreement is worth €22m ($25.6m) per season plus bonus payments.
DAZN has acquired rights for all 472 Serie B matches per season, with 428 to be shown on an exclusive basis. The one match per round that will be offered on a non-exclusive basis will additionally be shown by a free-to-air broadcaster on Friday evenings, with reports suggesting that state broadcaster Rai or commercial broadcaster Mediaset are the most likely candidates.
The agreement includes multi-platform rights for all play-off matches.
Last month, Perform confirmed the introduction of DAZN into Italy by acquiring rights for 114 matches per season from the top-tier Serie A covering the same three-season period.
DAZN will be available for a monthly subscription fee of €9.99.
