DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has acquired exclusive rights in Canada to the Six Nations rugby union tournament.
The three-year deal covers the 2018 to 2020 editions of the tournament, which is contested by the national teams of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy.
DAZN Canada will broadcast every round of this year’s tournament, which runs from February 3 to March 17. DAZN’s coverage of the event will begin with an extensive preview of the tournament.
Alex Rice, managing director for rights and strategic development at DAZN, said: “Rugby’s popularity is growing immensely from coast to coast. We are committed to showing more live rugby on the service and the Natwest 6 Nations is a perfect addition to our growing sports rights offering in the Canadian market.”
England has won the last two editions of the Six Nations. The 2018 tournament begins on Saturday with Wales taking on Scotland.
DAZN launched in Canada in July 2017. It also operates in Austria, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.
