OTT platform DAZN has secured the host broadcasting rights to English Premier League club Manchester City’s pre-season match in the Galaxy Entertainment EuroJapan Cup 2019 on July 27.
DAZN will show Manchester City’s match against Yokohama F. Marinos at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, Japan, in the inaugural edition of the ournament.
The deal is the first time DAZN’s Japanese arm has partnered with a single football club and builds on the three-season exclusive Premier League rights deal it signed earlier this year, running from 2019-20 to 2021-22.
DAZN launched in Japan in 2016, offering the local audience access to football’s German Bundesliga, basketball’s NBA and golf’s PGA Tour among a range of other properties.
