Digicel snaps up SportsMax parent company

International telecommunications company Digicel has acquired St. Lucia-based International Media Content (IMC), the parent company of regional pay-television broadcaster SportsMax.

Digicel has snapped up a controlling shareholding in IMC, which also operates North American broadcaster CEEN-TV, for an undisclosed sum.

A number of IMC’s current executives will stay with the company following the transaction.

SportsMax is currently available in 23 countries across the Caribbean and shows regional and international football, cricket and athletics. In 2013, SportsMax launched CDN SportsMax, a Spanish-language channel in the Dominican Republic.
