Media and entertainment company Discovery Communications, which owns international sports broadcaster Eurosport, has appointed Michael Lang to the new position of executive vice-president of international development and digital.
Lang will oversee corporate development at the company’s Discovery Networks International division, with responsibility for the strategy and execution of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures as well as other equity-related transactions and third-party partnerships.
Lang will also work with the company’s international management team in order to accelerate existing initiatives and execute the division’s digital strategy.
Due to begin his role in April, Lang will join Discovery from Lang Media Group, an advisory and sponsor equity firm that he founded. He has also held senior roles with Fox Entertainment, Miramax and The Walt Disney Company.
Lang will be based in London and report directly to Bruce Campbell, chief development, distribution and legal officer, and Jean-Briac Perrette, president of Discovery Networks International.
