US sports broadcaster ESPN and the ABC network have been confirmed as rights partners for a new college American football game which aims to set a landmark for attendance at such events.
The Battle at Bristol will be held on September 10, 2016, with the Virginia Tech Hokies taking on the Tennessee Volunteers.
Following Bristol Motor Speedway's Night Race on the Nascar stock car racing calendar on August 20, the venue (pictured) will be transformed into the world’s largest American football stadium for the inaugural Battle at Bristol game.
With a projected attendance of 150,000, the event is expected to surpass the previous college football attendance record, which currently stands at 115,109.
Organisers have confirmed ESPN/ABC as the broadcast partner of the event, with time and final network to be determined at a later date.
