The ESPN International division of sports broadcaster ESPN has acquired rights for the Legend Fighting Championship, the Hong-Kong based mixed martial arts series.
The deal covers 109 countries in the Middle East, North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Oceania and the Caribbean and also includes rights for coverage of the championship on cruise ships in these regions.
The agreement begins immediately and will run for two years, until the end of 2014. ESPN will feature all future Legend tournaments as well as archive content of action from previous events organised by the championship. The deal includes rights on television and internet.
“This agreement will give our television and broadband streaming efforts huge new reach into multiple regions around the world, cementing our position as the most widely distributed Asian mixed martial arts content worldwide,” championship co-founder and managing director Chris Pollak said.
