Uefa, European football’s governing body, agreed deals in Ireland and Portugal for the Europa League for three years, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.
Irish pay-television broadcaster Setanta Sports has acquired exclusive rights to all matches, excluding the first-pick match, for which commercial broadcaster TV3 holds the rights.
Setanta will show one live match per kick-off slot, plus a highlights programme. Internet and mobile rights were included in the deal.
In Portugal, commercial broadcaster SIC finally renewed its deal for the free-to-air rights to the competition and will show one live match per match night. The free-to-air rights in Portugal had been on the market since September last year. Pay-television broadcaster Sport TV acquired the rights to all other Europa League matches in December 2011.
The deals were brokered by the Team Marketing agency.
