Pan-regional sports broadcaster Eurosport Asia-Pacific has acquired exclusive rights for Russian ice hockey league the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Under the deal, which will run for two seasons, from 2012-13 to 2013-14, the broadcaster will show up to 60 games per season.
The agreement also includes mobile and internet rights on a non-exclusive basis.
The games will be broadcast live on Eurosport Asia-Pacific in Brunei, Cambodia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tonga and Vietnam.
The broadcaster acquired the rights from the Infront Sports & Media agency, a rights distribution partner of the league.
Bruno Marty, executive director of winter sports at Infront, said: “Collaborating with the KHL on this successful basis is an important step for Infront to expand both, our activities in club ice hockey on an international scale and our business operations in the Russian market as part of our growth strategy.”
