Pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport has agreed a two-season extension to its rights deal for the International Motorcycling Federation’s (FIM) Motocross World Championship (MXGP).
The deal, which takes in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, was signed with Youthstream, the global rights manager of MXGP.
The renewed agreement expands the exposure of both MXGP and MX2 with four races, two MXGP and two MX2 events, broadcast every Sunday on the Eurosport 2 television channel.
Youthstream vice-president David Luongo said: “Eurosport will broadcast all the MXGP and MX2 races live or slightly delayed on the same day, this is a major step forward for the media coverage and the notoriety of our sport.”
The 2018 MXGP season is set to start on March 4 at the MXGP of Patagonia-Argentina in Neuquen and will conclude on September 30 at the MXGP of Italy at Imola.
Eurosport’s coverage also includes the Motocross of Nations event, which this year is taking place at the RedBud facility in the US state of Michigan.
