Eurosport renews Africa Cup of Nations rights

Pan-European cable and satellite sports broadcaster Eurosport extended its rights deal for the Africa Cup of Nations for the next two editions of the tournament, in 2013 and 2015.

Eurosport acquired multi-platform rights across Europe, excluding France, in a deal with the Sportfive agency.

Live coverage of all 32 matches from each tournament will be carried across the Eurosport and Eurosport 2 channels and will be available in high definition.

Live streaming and video-on-demand will also be available through Eurosport’s internet and mobile subscription video platform, the Eurosport Player.

The Africa Cup of Nations is held every two years, usually in even-numbered years, but from 2013 the tournament will be held in odd-numbered years in order to avoid clashing with the Fifa World Cup, the European Championships and the Olympic Games.

South Africa will host the 2013 tournament and Morocco will stage the 2015 edition.
