International sports broadcaster Eurosport has acquired rights in Sweden to the Allsvenskan, the top tier of club football in the country.
Eurosport Sweden will serve as the exclusive home of the Allsvenskan for six seasons, starting from 2020.
Eurosport will hold exclusive broadcast and digital rights, and the broadcaster said that it would make more matches available than ever before. The agreement also includes the Superettan, Sweden’s second tier.
The deal was struck between the Discovery Networks Sweden division of international media and entertainment company Discovery Communications and the Swedish Elite Football Association (SEF), which operates the Allsvenskan and the Superettan.
Eurosport will dislodge current rights-holder, media group Bonner, as the broadcaster of the Allsvenskan. Bonnier's C More pay-television channels have broadcast the league since 1997.
