Sports broadcaster Eurosport will showcase its OTT platform in France this weekend by exclusively streaming 15 matches from the Coupe de France club football competition.
The Eurosport Player will provide a special presentation of Sunday’s all-Ligue 1 clash between Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain, which will include three different commentary options and cameras focused on PSG’s star-studded attack, which includes Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé.
The remaining 14 games to be provided exclusively via Eurosport Player all feature lower league teams.
Julien Bergeaud, general manager of the Discovery France division of Eurosport’s parent company Discovery Communications, said, according to the Ouest-France newspaper: “This initiative is part of the desire to reach a younger audience by offering a new experience. According to their desires, the viewer will be able to choose what they want to see and hear during the game.”
In July, the French Football Federation extended rights deals with public-service broadcaster France Télévisions and Eurosport for the Coupe de France. Both deals run for four years and cover the 2018-19 to 2021-22 seasons.
