The Infront Sports & Media agency is in advanced negotiations with the International Ice Hockey Federation to renew its media rights to the annual flagship World Championship, TV Sports Markets understands.
It is understood that a new deal would be for six years, from 2018 to 2023. Infront currently has a six-year deal in place with the IIHF, from 2012 to 2017.
Infront has sold commercial rights for the IIHF World Championship since 1981, including worldwide media rights. The World Championship is one of Infront’s biggest sports rights properties, and is thought to be a lucrative one for the agency.
The 2014 World Championship is currently taking place in Belarus. It will finish on Sunday, May 25.
