The Fox International Channels broadcast subsidiary of media company 21st Century Fox has announced the appointment of Helena Choe in a newly created position designed to aid the firm’s drive into the Asian sports broadcast market.
FIC Asia said Choe started in her new role on November 18 as vice-president of syndication, with her geographic remit covering Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
Choe joins FIC from the Sportfive International agency, where she held the position of managing director of the Hong Kong office, leading activities for Sportfive’s television rights in Hong Kong, Japan and Korea, and digital rights across Asia Pacific. Choe was also previously vice-president of digital media for the Asia Pacific region at IMG Media.
In her new position based in Hong Kong, Choe will work with channel and business development teams, as well as country managers to establish region-wide syndication policies and drive the distribution of FIC Asia’s sports, factual and entertainment content rights to multiple platforms.
Fox Sports launched in Asia at the beginning of this year and FIC said it is “committed to growing the presence of high quality sports content across the region and helping to make it accessible to sports fans everywhere.”
The creation of this role and Choe’s appointment are in line with this objective, FIC added.
