Flow Sports, the Caribbean pay-television channel owned by telecommunications company Cable & Wireless, has acquired rights to the 2016 Asia Cup national team cricket tournament.
Bangladesh is hosting this year’s Asia Cup from February 24 to March 6. Traditionally held in the 50-over one-day international format, the Asia Cup is switching to Twenty20 mode this year ahead of India’s staging of the World Twenty20 tournament in March.
Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will compete in the Asia Cup, alongside one team that emerges from a qualifying event being held this week. The Asia Cup will follow on from Flow Sports’ coverage of the Pakistan Super League, the inaugural edition of which is currently taking place in Dubai and Sharjah.
John Reid, president of C&W’s consumer group, said: “These tournaments add to our strong cricket line-up, joining Flow Sport’s coverage of the T20 Bangladesh Premier League, the South African Ram Slam T20 tournament as well as coverage of South African and New Zealand home series, helping to make Flow Sports the home of cricket in the Caribbean.”
