Mike Kerr, the former chief executive of golf’s Asian Tour, has joined beIN Media Group and will serve as the company’s managing director in Asia.
Kerr (right of picture) will report to Tom Keaveny, managing director of beIN Media Group in the Asia Pacific region, and will be based in Singapore. In a statement, beIN Media Group said the appointment is “in line with its plans to grow geographically while expanding into new genres and greater content production”.
Yousef Al Obaidly, deputy chairman of beIN Media Group, said: “BeIN continues to strengthen its global presence by securing rights to top level sports assets. While we do that we need to continuously consolidate our local management teams in order to best monetise our investments. Mike’s appointment is an important step in that direction.”
Kerr had served as chief executive of the Asian Tour for three-and-a-half years before resigning in December 2015 amid uncertainty surrounding a proposed partnership with the European Tour.
Prior to joining the Asian Tour, Kerr spent 12 years at ESPN Star Sports, most recently in the role as vice-president of affiliate and multimedia sales.
