Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has agreed a sublicencing deal with Spanish agency Mediapro for the rights to the Formula One motor racing championship in Latin America.
Fox has reached agreement for the joint broadcast of 10 live races per season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it comes after Mediapro in March acquired rights across Central and Latin America and the Caribbean.
The exclusive deal, which excludes Brazil, will run for five years, from 2015 to 2019.
It includes the launch of a new channel, which will be distributed throughout Latin America, with the exception of Brazil.
Mediapro has now given further details about the new channel, which will be broadcast on a 24-hour basis and will be produced and distributed with pan-regional pay-television provider DirecTV.
The channel will offer live broadcasts of all F1 races, 10 of which will be exclusive to the platform, as well as qualifying and practice sessions.
Mediapro’s agreement with Formula One Management, the commercial rights-holder of the championship, includes free-to-air and pay-television rights to all races, qualifying and practice sessions across all media platforms.
