Fox has confirmed that Fox Soccer, the US network’s football-dedicated pay-television channel, will close later this year to be replaced by a general entertainment channel.
FXX, which will launch on September 2, will be aimed at the 18 to 34-year-old market, according to the Wall Street Journal newspaper.
The report added that much of the content currently being broadcast on Fox Soccer is expected to be integrated into the programming schedule on Fox Sports 1, the new national pay-television sports channel that is being launched in August.
Fox Sports 1 will launch in the US through a rebranding of Speed, a motorsport-dedicated channel that is owned by Fox.
