The Fox Sports division of US network Fox has expanded its partnership with social media website Facebook for its live coverage of the NFL American football Super Bowl game on Sunday.
According to the Reuters news agency, Fox will integrate content from Facebook into its pre-game television programming, including public comments about the game from users of Facebook and associated picture and video-sharing website Instagram, along with fan statistics based on collective data from Facebook members.
The two companies have also created a website that will feature Facebook user data and videos of all the commercials that are shown during Fox’s coverage the game.
In September, Fox and Facebook announced an initial six-month partnership allowing data and chatter from the platform to appear alongside live NFL and college American football broadcasts, as well as soccer games.
Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey is expected to generate an audience in excess of 100 million viewers for Fox.
