Fox Sports Asia, the regional subsidiary of 21st Century Fox’s broadcast arm Fox International Channels, has secured a new rights deal for the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts series.
The deal covers multiple platforms across Fox Sport’s Asian operations, but excludes the Philippines, South Korea and Taiwan. Asian MMA website Rough said the new contract follows a brief hiatus for the UFC on Fox Sports Asia output.
Alongside live coverage on Fox Sports, subscribers will be able to watch UFC on-demand and via mobile devices through the Fox Sports Play facility, which is available in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand pending further roll-out.
Terms of the new agreement, which was announced at the Asia-Pacific Video Operators Summit in Bali, were not disclosed.
Fox’s renewal for the UFC in Asia comes ahead of Japanese flyweight Kyoji Horiguchi's (left of picture) world-title shot against Demetrious Johnson at UFC 186 in Montreal this weekend.
