Fox Sports Brasil scores rights to new women’s football league

Brazilian pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports Brasil has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights to the first season of the Brazilian Football Confederation’s new women’s league.

The Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino kicked off on Wednesday, with Fox broadcasting the match between Duque de Caxias and Centro Olímpico.

The first edition of the women’s Campeonato Brasileiro runs from September 18 to December 4 and is being seen as a vehicle to encourage more professionalism in the Brazilian women’s game.

Its maiden season will include Brazil’s top-20 ranked clubs.
