The Fox International Channels broadcast subsidiary of media conglomerate News Corporation has reached an agreement with Italian commercial broadcaster Mediaset to distribute its new Fox Sports channel.
Fox Sports will be included as part of the Mediaset Premium digital-terrestrial pay-television service. Mediaset said it will be included at no extra cost in the service’s ‘Premium’ offer and will launch on August 17 to coincide with the start of the new English Premier League football season.
Along with the Premier League and the FA Cup, Fox Sports will offer live coverage of games from the Spanish Liga and French Ligue 1. The Fox Sports schedule will also feature a series of news bulletins and a range of sports-themed programmes.
Mediaset said the addition of Fox Sports makes Premium’s football offer “more complete and competitive”, with subscribers also offered full coverage of Italy’s Serie A and Serie B, along with the Uefa Champions League and Europa League.
