Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports Latin America has acquired exclusive rights across the continent for the Formula One motor-racing world championship.
The deal will run for five years, from 2018 to 2022.
Coverage of the races, as well as practice and qualifying sessions, will be available on the Fox Sports, Fox Sports 3 and Fox Premium Action channels.
The agreement also includes magazine programmes such as El Show de la Formula 1, GP1 and Circuito Fox Sports. Fox Sports Latin America will also be able to show coverage of the Formula Two championship and the GP3 series.
In addition to certain digital rights, F1 has retained the right to license live free-to-air coverage of any races that take place within the region in the relevant market, as well as delayed free-to-air highlights everywhere else in the region.
Fox Sports Latin America already has rights to a number of motorsport properties, including Formula E, the World Rally Championship, the World Endurance Championship, the 24 Hours of Le Mans race and the Dakar Rally.
F1 coverage has been shown across Latin America, excluding Brazil, by the Mediapro agency’s Canal F1 Latin America channel over the past three years, from 2015 to 2017. The Lat.motorsport news website said that Canal F1 Latin America would be discontinued.
The 2018 F1 campaign will begin with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 25.
