Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports has acquired rights in Australia for the US Masters golf event, according to the Australian newspaper.
The deal covers pay-television and IPTV platforms and will run for three years, from 2014 to 2016.
Fox Sports agreed the deal with the Augusta National Golf Club, which hosts the annual tournament that is one of golf’s ‘majors’.
The deal includes rights on television, online, IPTV, mobile and broadband platforms.
The report said that Fox had negotiated for the rights to be separated from the free-to-air rights, which were acquired last week by commercial broadcaster Seven. Seven replaced commercial broadcast rival Network Ten, which previously had the rights in Australia for the event.
The 2014 US Masters will run from April 10-13, with Australian Adam Scott attempting to defend his title.
