Fox Sports set to launch Colombian channel

The Fox Sports division of US network Fox will launch a pay-television sports channel in Colombia next year, according to the Rapid TV News website.

The channel will begin broadcasting in early 2013 and will provide coverage of the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, Uefa Champions League and Fifa Club World Cup football tournaments as well as Formula One motor-racing, men’s tennis and the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts series.

Fox Sports plans to produce some of the programming from its Fox Telecolombia studios in the country.

Carlos Martinez, president of Fox International Channels Latin America, said: “This future release will allow us to consolidate our leadership in the sports world in this market and to offer our systems affiliates, advertisers and consumers a channel with the best content and the widest sports coverage of local interest.”
