Galatasaray seeks to boost global brand with Perform partnership

Turkish Super Lig football club Galatasaray has agreed a three-and-a-half year partnership with digital sports content and media group Perform.

The wide-ranging agreement, which covers the remainder of the 2015-16 season, along with the 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 campaigns, includes a global media partnership with Perform-owned Goal.com. The online platform will receive behind-the-scenes content from the reigning Super Lig champion.

Perform-owned Opta will provide data feeds for use across all of Galatasaray’s digital platforms, while OptaPro will be offered to the Istanbul club’s performance analysis team.

Through the agreement, the two parties said Galatasaray will seek to increase its brand awareness and recognition outside of Europe, primarily in the US, Asia and Africa.

Emre Ugurlu, managing director of Perform Turkey, said: “Turkey is one of the fastest growing countries in the world, and Galatasaray is one of the leading sports brands in this country. At Perform Turkey, our aim is to help the club further digitally engage with its fans, using Perform’s market-leading content. As sponsors, we will not only act as a content provider, but also help the club exploit its major overseas potential.”

The agreement, the first of its kind in Turkey, follows the global media partnership signed between Goal.com and German Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich in September.
